still need "www" meh?

curious on how many "major" singapore sites do not work if you don't put in www in the url.

in this age where the glc, statboards are going for shorter/hipper .sg domains... makes you wonder why the "www" is needed.

e.g. try:
  1. cpf.gov.sg
  2. hdb.gov.sg
  3. sim.edu.sg
  4. gov.sg
  5. ....let me know
or is this a case, of .... one wrong, the rest copy&paste also wrong lah.

news of da day:Private property prices register steepest drop since 1975

in Today (today)

But Mr Chris Koh, Dennis Wee Group’s vice-president, said there is a
threshold as to how far prices can go down. Noting that some private
projects are advertised from as low as $450,000, anything beyond that
would "go against all fundamentals", as that would match prices of
five-room HDB flats and executive condominiums.
somehow.... everyone's convinced that hdb flats... can only price up.... and not price down.
facing up to "reality" or the says so?

or the question we should be asking is.... if private developers can sell at 450k, what gives the hdb flat pricing?

news of da day: JAPANESE MAN FOUND DEAD AT RITZ-CARLTON

A 64-YEAR-OLD Japanese man was found dead in his hotel room at the
five-star Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore by hotel staff yesterday
morning. The man was found with a stab wound in his chest.
blah...blah
The police have classified the case as unnatural death, and a spokesman
said: "Preliminary investigations indicate that foul play was unlikely.
Police investigations are ongoing."
seriously, Dude found dead, with a stab wound in his chest... and "foul play was unlikely" ??? maybe he was cutting the skin off his ritzcarlton apple, and fell on the knife.... and killed himself.

Witness Protection.... akan datang!

Clarifying comments he made on Sunday that whistleblowers were already protected under the Witness Protection Act, Nazri said the fact was that the bill was still in the process of being drafted.

“What I meant was that there are already other mechanisms in place which provide for police protection,” he said.

Such a mechanism, he added, could also apply in the lawyer video clip case where the source could seek police protection to come out in the open.

i'll take back what i said yesterday.... definitely more advance form of logic... he promised something that didn't exist...

Copywright leh....

Cabinet Minister Nazri Aziz said a probe into the clip would come to
nothing if the whistleblower does not come forward to verify its
authenticity, and assured that he would receive full witness-protection
measures.

"He will not only be protected but can also undergo surgery to change his
look," The Star reported Mr Nazri as saying.

Mr Nazri said that if the witness failed to come forward, "we can conclude
that he is lying".
- Today's article "PLASTIC SURGERY, NEW IDENTITY OFFER TO WHISTLEBLOWER" Oct 9

can someone remind Mr Nazri, this style of logic..... is copywrighted by us, Singapore?
did he seek permission?

flash back ...
"It is in the AG's authority to exercise his discretion, but his decision not to prosecute does not, in any way, make James Gomez less of a liar or less dishonest. I reiterate what I have called him, a liar and dishonest, and that Ms Sylvia Lim and Mr Low Thia Khiang did not act honourably by shielding him. If Gomez claims he is not a liar nor dishonest, he can go to court to clear his name," said Mr Lee in his statement.

let's draw cartoons!

on new CPF measures......

Members of Parliament welcomed the changes, but asked for more public
education measures. Agreeing that the changes were complex, Dr Ng said
simple cartoons would be used to convey messages and more roadshows would
be organised. He will also deliver a ministerial statement in Parliament
on Sept 17.

simple cartoons = public education...

do we need the 4th university? maybe a artschool that specialises in cartoons!

News of da day: Gold(plated) Years

[Category-Sillypore]

[source]

hmm... this is kinda strange... shouldn't we be investigating why we are UNABLE to provide for our golden years... instead of trying to extend my working years?

root issue... why after working for 55 years, we are unable to retire?

Singaporeans need to work beyond retirement age to provide for their golden years

Singaporeans have been urged to work past the legislated retirement to build up a nest egg for their golden years as the funds might not stretch long enough.

Citing figures, the National Trades Union Congress Secretary General Lim Boon Heng said a high proportion of older workers have dropped out of the job market.

That is why a tripartite committee comprising NTUC, the government and employers is studying how to help older Singaporeans find work and stay on working.

Mr Lim said: "NTUC has long recognised this and therefore pushed for raising the effective retirement age. It is important to focus on the effective retirement age and not on the legislated retirement age. Currently our official retirement age is 62 but many drop out from the age of 55 years."

News of da Day: 4 Guns Good, 6 Guns Bad

[Category-Sillypore]

[link]

For the first time in the history of the National Day Parade, only four 25-pounder guns will be used in the Presidential Gun Salute compared to the traditional half a dozen guns.

The Presidential Gun Salute has been a mainstay of the National Day Parade: 21 shots fired within 3 minutes as a mark of respect to the President when he inspects the contingents in the stadium.

how about that? we only need 1/2 the number of guns, to make the same 21 shots. chalk up another victory for productivity.
